Today, according to the official website of the State Administration of Radio and Television, the State Administration of Radio and Television has approved the establishment of a "Key Laboratory for Ultra High Definition Technology Innovation and Application" at Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. The approval clearly states that the "Key Laboratory of Ultra High Definition Technology Innovation and Application of the State Administration of Radio and Television" should focus on the ultra high definition industry chain, carry out key foundational technological innovation and application demonstrations throughout the entire chain in areas such as content production, transmission and distribution, and terminal presentation, in order to promote the upgrading of the ultra high definition end-to-end industry chain.

Currently, China attaches great importance to the ultra-high definition video industry, and the country and local governments have issued intensive plans and policies around ultra-high definition videos. On December 15, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and seven other departments jointly issued the "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the High Quality Development of the Audiovisual and Electronic Industry", which proposed to implement the 4K/8K Ultra High Definition Household Action, accelerate the mature implementation of 4K/8K Ultra High Definition Technology, and encourage products such as 4K/8K TV sets, laser TVs, and virtual reality terminals to enter households.

The opinion proposes to break through key core technologies, cultivate and strengthen high-quality enterprises, optimize and upgrade industrial structure, and guide the orderly layout of industries.

In terms of breakthroughs in key core technologies, opinions have been put forward, including breakthroughs in terminal SoC, audio and video processing, wireless short distance communication, CMOS image sensors, virtual reality dedicated processors, and 3D graphics processing chips. Accelerate the research and industrialization of equipment such as natural interaction devices, close eye display modules, electric servo zoom lenses, microphone heads, and ultra short focus lenses.

Analysts point out that with the successive introduction of favorable policies, the ultra high definition video display industry may usher in rapid development and continue to promote the landing and application of ultra high definition video technology in various fields.

According to the "2023-2028 China Ultra High Definition Video Special Research and Development Prospects Evaluation Report" released by the China Academy of Commerce and Industry Research, as of the end of 2022, the scale of China's ultra high definition video industry is about 3 trillion yuan. The China Academy of Commerce predicts that the scale of China's ultra high definition video industry will reach 4 trillion yuan by 2023, and will further increase to 5 trillion yuan by 2025.
